MONUMENT
#7
In The Stream of Tired Blood
In the stream of tired blood
Pumping through the giant's heart
I did find myself tonight
On a train of the blue line
Have I seen this face before? -
Dreamy smile and heavy lids
Have out paths been deemed to cross
By the mischief of the grid?
Oh, Arachne, from concrete
You have weaved your humming house
Stole and buried in your tomb
Constellating foggy lamps
Moody architect of rails
By the quirks of your design
You unfairly shared caress
Between body's moving parts
Some are overflown with tubes
Often carrying empty load
Others slowly drying out
Starving for their deal of crop
Still despite abscess and rot
Breath of giant carries on
Proud and lonely there he lays
By reflection of his own
What's colossus dreaming of
Calmed by iron's steady beat?
...
Wondered I and left my seat
Now it's time for me to sleep
